Akshaya Kannan

(POLIMI – TUBS)

Akshaya Kannan is from Chennai, India. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering at Anna University, Chennai, specializing in Aerodynamics and Propulsion. She conducted the thesis project “Numerical study of analyzing flow mixing characteristics in a supersonic cross flow through secondary injection”. Further, she pursued a master’s degree in Aerospace dynamics – ‘Aerodynamics stream’ at Cranfield University. She was involved in various computational and experimental projects that involved working with different wind tunnel facilities and commercial computational software, which nurtured her interest in fluid dynamics. Her master’s thesis project, entitled “The experimental investigation on the wake development of Barchan Dune(s) within the surface shear layer” involved conducting several unsteady experiments in the Atmospheric Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel and exploring the environmental aerodynamics field. Her PhD research focuses on developing robust optimization techniques for electro-thermal ice protection systems to mitigate the ice formation on aircraft surfaces under optimal energy supply.
