- Doctoral researcher:
Shivam Kumar Pandey, born in Jamshedpur in 2001, graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar in 2023 with a dual-degree integrated program: a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and a master’s in thermal science and engineering. For his undergraduate project, he developed a numerical model for droplet generation in flow-focusing microchannels using the lattice Boltzmann method. During his Master’s, he focused on droplet coalescence in drop-on-drop impacts, conducting experiments to classify the regimes of droplet coalescence.
Currently, he is a PhD student in TRACES: involved in DR10, he studies liquid transport and solidification on cold, structured, and rough substrates. His research aims to experimentally investigate and develop a theoretical model for solidification and capillary-driven liquid flow in cold grooves, which are typically encountered on structured or rough solid or icy surfaces.
