Pietro Congedo

Pietro Marco Congedo is Research Director at Inria, leader of the team-project PLATON and Scientific Director of the CWI-Inria Lab.

He is also Deputy Coordinator of “Maths/Engineering” Program of the Labex Mathématiques Hadamard and Editor of MATCOM (Mathematics and Computers in Simulation) Journal.

He graduated with honours in Materials Engineering at University of Lecce (Italy) in 2003. After his Master in Fluid Mechanics at Arts et Métiers (Paris, France), he received his Ph.D. in Energy Systems at University of Lecce in 2007, and the Habilitation Diploma at the University of Bordeaux in 2013. From 2010 to 2016, he was Research Scientist at Inria Bordeaux Sud-Ouest and leader of the AQUARIUS Team, joint with Stanford University. In 2016, he moved to the Inria Saclay Île-de-France center within the Center for Applied Mathematics from Ecole Polytechnique, and in 2020, he co-founded the Platon team, joint with Inria, CNRS and Ecole Polytechnique.

Since 2010, Pietro Marco Congedo supervised 14 PhD candidates, several MSc theses, and he has co-authored more than 70 publications in international journals.

He has long experience in uncertainty quantification and robust optimization methods for scientific computing with applications in aeronautics, hypersonics and real-gas flows. He has been involved in several H2020 and CleanSky projects, as well as large industrial projects.
